During a post financial earnings press conference yesterday, Activision revealed that there is a team of people at Bungie who are already working on Destiny 2. The CEO of Activision Publishing, Eric Hirshberg, said that ”work has also begun on future expansion packs, as well as on our next full game release.”
This isn’t too surprising as Activision sees Destiny as a 10 year commitment. When the contracts between Bungie and the publisher were signed in 2012, they included obligations for ‘multiple sequels’. With over 9.5 million registered players, Destiny is a big success. Expect this to become one of the largest IPs in the industry over the course of the next few years.
