Destiny: Rise of Iron Information Detailed

Destiny, Activision

Rise of Iron is the next expansion for Bungie’s hit shooter Destiny, but until now little was known as to what would be included in it. The September issue of Game Informer will focus on Rise of Iron, and they have released a plethora of details, alongside Bungie, as to what to expect in the expansion.

While it had already been revealed that the expansion would be focusing on Lord Saladin and the Iron Lords, more bits of information have been revealed as to how they all play into the gameplay experience come September. The new social space will be Fellwinter’s Peak, the snowy mountain that has been shown in videos thus far. Players however will first take on a mission to clear the area of enemies, before it is a usable space. Once they have access to the new social space, there will be plenty of new faces for players to get to know, who will give them new quests and sell new gear. One such vendor, Tyra Karn, will be sending players out to complete tasks. Once complete, you will be rewarded with a token that can be used to purchase one of three artifacts that will be sold each week. Artifacts up until now have been fairly useless in Destiny, so it will be nice to see some changes into what the artifacts can do for players.

The topic of light levels has been revealed as well. Currently the light level cap is 335, and when Rise of Iron releases it will be increased to 385, and up to 400 once the hard mode raid is released. There will also be a journal similar to what Bungie has done with Sparrow Racing League and this years Moments of Triumph, and as you complete certain tasks within, you will be rewarded with Iron Lord gear. There will be plenty of ways to customize your guardians, as there is Iron Lord gear, new raid gear, new Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris gear, as well as from Archon’s Forge, a new arena-based event in the game. It has also been confirmed that the current Year Two guns and gear will be able to be carried forward and infused further, which is great news for players that want to keep certain favourite pieces of their armoury.

More information will be released in the coming weeks, through streams and from Bungie, but from what has been shown it looks like Bungie has listened to their fans and fine-tuned Destiny to be about playing how the players want to play. Rise of Iron releases on September 20 for Destiny players on PS4 and Xbox One.
