Destroy All Humans! Invades the PS4 Today

Destroy All Humans!

Out of nowhere, THQ Nordic (who recently re-branded from Nordic Games) has released Destroy All Humans! onto the PS4. It is a remastered version of the PS2 classic, and is available on the PlayStation Store now for $19.99 USD.

If you don’t remember, Destroy All Humans! was a weird game that I sort of shrugged off when it was released in 2005. Developed by Pandemic Studios and published by THQ (both of which are defunct now), the game followed the adventures of Cryptosporidium 137, or “Crypto” as he was referred to in short. Your goal was to harvest the DNA of humans in an attempt to take over Earth. The game was set in 1959 America.

Reinhard Pollice, who is Business and Product Development Director at THQ Nordic said in a press release that “Remastering the original for PS4 somehow makes every bovine encounter and governmental mishap even funnier – Crypto is at his absolute best on PS4!“. I’m a bit skeptical though, as the game is coming out of nowhere and isn’t priced too highly for a remaster. It isn’t listed as a PS2 Classic, but seems to be a full remaster on PS4. It does have a Platinum though, so there’s that.

Fun fact: the game was accidentally released on the PlayStation Store back on October 18th, 2016. Hence the release date on the Store page stating that exact date instead of November 3rd, 2016. Another cause for concern, in my opinion. That THQ Nordic was working on a re-release isn’t too surprising though as they teased it back in June.

I’m curious about the game, but I think it’s likely best to wait for reactions to the game before putting down some cash, unless you’re a diehard Destroy All Humans! fan. Let us know in the comments below what you think of the release?
