Japanese magazine Famitsu seems to have pulled some new details during an interview regarding Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII. Andriasang has more to show, but here are a few things to make note of.

The game is only 30% complete.

Lightning Returns: FFXIII will be Lightning’s final game. It will also contain one (happy) ending.

Lightning Returns is ‘World Driven.’ Players will have to determine how they’re going to interact with the ever changing world.

The game is meant to be played–and finished–multiple times.

The game has a 13 day limit that can be influenced based on what you do in the game.; defeating specific enemies, completing certain quests and helping people can either increase or decrease how much time you have left.

One day in the game is roughly the same as 1-2 hours in real-life.

Lightning is on her own when in battle and can also move freely. The Battle System is closer to ‘action’, will still have an ATB gauge and you no longer select commands from the menu, but instead select abilities that have been tied to the buttons on the controller.

It would seem that Square Enix is trying a few new things when it comes to the final game in Lightning’s story. I have to admit though, I didn’t expect Final Fantasy XIII to become a trilogy back when it first came out in 2010.
