Details Revealed for July’s Xbox One Update

At the Xbox One E3 presentation, they hinted at some new improvements coming with the July system update. Today, on Major Nelson’s blog, Larry Hyrb confirmed what will be included in this release.

Before we get into the details, Microsoft has launched a new initiative called Xbox Feedback. This is a new site where gamers can go and voice their feedback and recommendations. Major Nelson says the team relies on community feedback and to date  “more than 65,000 fans like you have suggested more than 4300 ideas and contributed over 180,000 votes”, said Hyrb.

Below is what will be included in the next system update for the Xbox One:

Snap Mode for Achievements:  The ability to snap the list of achievements for games will allow players to track their achievement progress in real time, while still playing the game. For those who need help with a particular achievement, there is now a Get Help function for every achievement. Select Get Help and the Xbox will search the internet, via Bing we presume, and report back with a list of links which will contain tips on how to unlock said achievement.

Double-tap to Snap: Need to get to Snap Center, in well, a snap? Double-tap the Xbox Button at the top of your controller and it will open the Snap menu without leaving the game. If the app is already snapped, double-tapping will allow you to switch between games and the app.

Choice of Spoken Language: Residents of New Zealand, Ireland, and Austria will now be able to select their voice control by using English or German from other countries.

Future Digital Bundles and Compilation Discs:
“We’re doing some work now so that publishers will have options for great digital bundle and disc compilation offerings in the future. As we test this feature, we’ll be seeing more flexible combinations of game titles and game content”, said Hyrb.

‘Like’ Game DVR clips. Gamers can now ‘Like’ their favorite Game DVR clips and activity feed items in SmartGlass.

No official release date has been give as to when people in the preview program should start receiving the update.
