Dev Diaries Interview For WEREWOLF: THE APOCALYPSE

February is fast approaching and along with it comes Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood, the new action RPG from game publisher, NACON, and game developers, Cyanide. The two-part dev diaries goes in-depth about Cyanide’s blending stealth and bestial action to expand the gamers’ experience with the help of the staff, consisting of Game Director, Julien ‘Patch’ Desourteaux, animator Bren Bruylant, level designer Clément Demaret, narrative designer Simon Decottignies-Renard, project manager Maxime Roy, and UI/UX artist Juliette Ruaux.

Inspired by the popular table-top game World of Darkness, which consists of the Vampire Masquerade IP and Hunter: The Reckoning among many others, Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood will put players in the role of Cahal, a Werewolf of the Fianna Tribe who is forced into exile in order to protect his beloved wife, Ludmila; his daughter, Aedana from his rage. Endron, the petroleum subsidiary for the mega corporation Pentex, is somehow responsible for Cahal’s unbridled rage and are also a constant threat to Gaia, Mother Earth, Cahal is consumed by a single goal: to put an end to Endron by whatever means necessary.

In the first video below, the developers return to the world of the game and to the story of Cahal. The exiled Garou, haunted by family tragedy, sets out to reunite with his loved ones and to fight Endron, a multinational corporation bent on destroying all forms of life behind its benign greenwashed facade. The company is run from the shadows by a malignant entity called the Wyrm, one of the werewolves’ most dangerous enemies.

The second part of the two-part Apocalypse videos has the team presents Earthblood’s beat’em up orientation, which makes for a decidedly violent and heart-pounding experience. The transformation system makes the game’s overall experience unique. Cahal can shift between three shapes: the Homid form is used to interact with other characters; the Lupus form is excellent at exploration and infiltration; and, finally, the Crinos form, the most exhilarating, gives Cahal the supernatural strength to fight his enemies.
