Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia LUFENIA Introduction

What are LUFENIA stages? How hard can they be?

LUFENIA INtroduction

During the latest Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia community stream; players were met with a few surprises. Starting with the announcement of a GL-exclusive LD weapon for Vivi and ending with a new difficulty mode to the game. This new difficulty is known as LUFENIA. However, a lot of players are confused regarding the nature of the difficulty. As such, the kind folks from the Convergence will provide you with an appropriate introduction to LUFENIA. For starters, let’s take a look at the current state of the game and what players can expect from this new difficulty.

LUFENIA Diffiiculty Overview

LUFENIA is the new highest difficulty tier, being harder than CHAOS. While EX, COSMOS and CHAOS differ between each other only through enemy stats; LUFENIA adds one deadly mechanic to spice the fight up. Most bosses in LUFENIA fights will have access to an undispellable purple orb left of their buff/debuff slots. This orb, commonly referred to as the LUFENIA orb has an attached Special Countdown.

With each action the player takes, the countdown goes down by 1. Every time the boss acts, it goes down by 2 instead. Once the orb countdown reaches 0, the boss will unleash a devastating attack, able to instantly wipe out the whole party. Completing a LUFENIA stage rewards the player with 20 High Armor (HA) tokens.

Dealing with the Orb

Considering the danger this LUFENIA orb poses, it seems as if the fight is on a set countdown. So, how is one’s team supposed not to be killed instantly after a certain amount of turns? This is where the Countdown Conditions come into play. Most orbs can be dealt when certain requirements are fulfilled. As an example, let’s take a look at the very first LUFENIA boss fight.

The Shinryu boss fight’s Countdown Condition is that the orb gets Paused when its BRV is below 25% mBRV. The orb countdown freezes when the condition is reached, it cannot go up or down until the boss’ next turn. A frozen orb becomes grayed out for the duration of the freeze. As mentioned above, there are other conditions that may appear during certain boss fights.

However, in certain cases, a LUFENIA Orb may appear/disappear at certain HP thresholds. As such, the fight becomes a DPT (Damage Per Turn) race in which players need to end the battle as quickly as possible. The conditions of LUFENIA orb appearances will always change and as such, it’s better to read on the boss fights to stay informed about when an orb might make an appearance.

What are your rewards from beating such a difficult boss? Well…

HG 7★ Armor

Once you complete a LUFENIA stage (that means clearing all the fight conditions), you gain a set of 20 High Armor tokens. With these, you’ll be able to purchase a High Grade armor that will massively boost your stats. In addition to the increased amount of CP this tier of equipment provides, it has a unique effect increasing the unit’s combat capabilities greatly. Each armour has one of the three following passives depending on the role of the wearer :

It is advisable to only purchase one of these for units you are planning on using a lot as they are quite hard to come by. The second category of armor is the most valuable so prioritize this one if your team does not have a character with this passive already. This new tier of armor cannot be limit broken, so don’t buy the same armor twice!
