The sequel to the popular RPG, Divinity: Original Sin II has just been announced to be releasing on September 14th, 2017 for PC. The game is currently in Early Access and can be purchased now for $44.99 on Steam, letting players take part in the first act of the game’s story. Set a thousand years after the original’s story, the game will take players into a “darker and more expansive” narrative than the original game.
Divinity: Original Sin II will allow players to create their own tabletop RPG adventures with the Game Master mode. Meanwhile, multiplayer combat will also be available through the game’s PvP modes. Your role in the story of this sequel is to decide who will be the new God of Rivellon and “what that god will do with its powers.” That’s a lot of responsibility, which is par for the course of Divinity which takes heavy inspiration from tabletop RPGs of yore. On top of having more expansive impact on the world of Rivellon, Divinity II also features 4-player co-op that will allow players the opportunity to work together or work against each other for their own goals.
To celebrate the game’s release date being announced, a new Early Access patch is being released that includes two new areas to explore and a companion relationship system for players to indulge in.
Divinity: Original Sin was a huge hit and managed to celebrate while also revitalizing an old subgenre of RPGs. Its sequel looks no different and seems set on trying to push the subgenre forward in interesting ways. Let us know if you’re excited for Divinity: Original Sin II in the comments below!
