Don’t Worry, Mods and 4K are Coming to Skyrim Special Edition and Fallout 4 for PS4

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition 4K

It wasn’t that long ago that Bethesda announced that mods would not be coming to PS4 versions of Fallout 4 and Skyrim Special Edition. Blaming Sony, the team seemed like they were still going to look for workarounds, but it appeared unlikely that mods would see the light of day on the PlayStation console. Well, Bethesda has now announced that the PS4 versions of the games will get mod support after all.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition will have mod support when it launches on October 28th. Bethesda will be focusing on getting Skyrim up and running with mods before it launches them in Fallout 4. The same goes with 4K support, which will happen with Skyrim Special Edition first, and then later with Fallout 4. Of course, if you do not have a PlayStation 4 Pro, the 4K update won’t matter to you. If you’d like to check out some 4K screenshots of Skyrim, we’ve got you covered:

This is great news though as one of the main reasons that justified a re-release of Skyrim was mod support. The native 4k resolution looks beautiful and I’m sure it will be the best way to play Skyrim but without mod support it wouldn’t have made that much more sense other than being a cash grab, in my opinion. It is a disappointment that Fallout 4 players have to wait until Skyrim is working 100% before we get mod support, but I’ve waited this long, I can wait a little longer.

Let us know how you feel about the re-announcement of mod support for Bethesda’s PS4 games, and whether 4K support sways you to get a PlayStation 4 Pro. Sound off in the comments below!
