Square Enix is working on a version of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King for the 3DS. This remake will have two extra party members, Morrie from Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road and a female thief called Gerda. It also features StreetPass support and a new quests.
Dragon Quest VIII was originally released for the PS2 in Japan in 2004. A smartphone version came out in December. Square Enix launched a 3DS remake of Dragon Quest VII in 2013 but it was never brought to the West.
Dragon Quest VIII for 3DS will be released in Japan on August 27 this year.
