Drawn to Death is Releasing April 4 for PS4

Drawn to Death is the latest release coming from the chaotic mind of David Jaffe. For those unfamiliar with his work, he is the man responsible for some of Sony’s more iconic franchises, mainly God of War and Twisted Metal (and to a lesser extent, Calling All Cars). Drawn to Death is coming to PlayStation 4 on April 4 from Jaffe’s studio, The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency and SIE San Diego, after having been in beta for a good part of 2016.

The game is a third-person shooter combined with an arena brawler. It focuses solely on PvP action, and is made for 4 players, where a combination of guns and weapons are used to maim opponents. The aesthetics of the game have always been a standout, where the look of the game is made to evoke the pages of a high school student, whose doodles are conveying an angsty escapist fantasy. You’ll find all sorts of interesting hybrids of soldiers and animals, and even ninja shark ladies, all equipped with an intense arsenal of weaponry designed to free enemies of buckets of their blood. An interesting choice is the lengthy time-to-kill of the game, and strict 4 player limit, which will make for some more methodical confrontations.

The game is a very unique take on PvP, and looks to be another strong addition to the PS4’s exclusives lineup for the year. While games like Gravity Rush 2, Nioh, Horizon: Zero Dawn and more will likely garner a lot of critical acclaim, it’s nice to see Sony also putting out more unique titles that offer potentially great gameplay with unique and interesting aesthetics. Jaffe has had his hands in some of the PlayStation’s standout franchises, so it’s always nice to see a new offering from the mind behind Kratos and Sweet Tooth. Drawn to Death launches on April 4th on the PlayStation Store for $19.99 USD.
