Dynasty Warriors 9 is Making Serious Changes to Its Structure

A lot of what holds the Dynasty Warriors series back for me is its refusal to progress in monumental ways. A lot of the gameplay has remained the same with incremental changes as each new game is released. To be fair, I play musou games for a very specific type of gameplay which developer Omega Force has always delivered. However, with Dynasty Warriors 9 they are making some of their most radical changes yet. You can watch a trailer above that showcases some of the big changes, including an open world.

The trailer highlights some of the key changes as well as some of the returning aspects of the game. Battles now contain Key Missions that progress the story, as well as Linked Missions that will change the tide of battle. There are also 90 playable characters, all with new designs, and each have their own endings. But most notable is the stuff that has changed drastically, which includes an open world with places to discover and explore.

Within that open world system, Dynasty Warriors 9 will let players craft materials, train horses, create weapons and tools, renovate your hideaway, interact with off-duty officers, and visit scenic locales. The game will also introduce cooking as way to provide temporary boosts to your character. By far, these are some of the biggest changes that have come to the Dynasty Warriors franchise, ever. And I really can’t wait.

Let us know in the comments below if you’re excited for Dynasty Warriors 9. It releases on February 13th, 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
