At Sony’s E3 press conference, it was pretty shocking to see the Batman: Arkham series show up, let alone in the form that it did. Batman: Arkham VR was shown in a very mysterious trailer that featured voice-over from Batman’s nemesis, The Joker. The VR project is being designed by Rocksteady and will be released exclusively on PlayStation VR in October 2016. You can check out the teaser video above and keep on reading to find out more about the game.

The VR experience will naturally allow players to take the role of the Dark Knight himself. There will be a whole new mystery in the Arkham universe for players to solve, involving the fate of Batman’s closest allies. Players will have to think like the Caped Crusader and use the gadgets in their arsenal in order to solve the case. There is still very little we know about what the game entails, but it will allow players to experience Wayne Manor, Gotham City, and the Batcave from a perspective they’ve never been able to before.

I’m still hesitant on the uses of VR for a Batman story, especially one in a universe where we’ve gotten in the head of Batman multiple times without having to actually be immersed in virtual reality. However, if anyone can make you feel like Batman, it is Rocksteady and they have been very good at subverting player expectations throughout their stories.
