EA Play is currently underway and it looks like EA Sports is doubling down on eSports. The publisher brought Peter Moore to the stage to talk about the future of EA Sports titles and how they would be leaning more into the eSports circuit. They announced three types of events centered around multiplayer: Challenger, Premier and EA Major Events.

The Challenger series will allow for players to host tournaments and spark a fire in the competition between players. Then there are the Premier events which will involve affiliation with other companies. EA Major events will offer tournaments hosted by EA, and the first time this will be shown in action is with Madden 17.

The Championship Series for Madden 17 will offer a $1 million prize pool for players that are willing to compete in the tournaments. EA Play will continue and show more sports games and perhaps how they might tie into this new eSports initiative.
