E3 2016: Sony Conference Liveblog/Recap

Sony

Welcome again everyone to the final liveblog on BagoGames. Tonight, I (Christopher Cross), have the luxury of taking you into the world of Sony and what they are cooking up for PlayStation fans around the world. Tomorrow, we will not be doing a liveblog of Nintendo because they decided not to have a traditional conference in any capacity, but we will definitely have coverage of the event.

Last year’s Sony conference had some huge announcements like the resurrection of the long-awaited The Last Guardian, and the announcements of Final Fantasy VII RemakeHorizons: Zero Dawn, and Shenmue III. Can we expect the same caliber of announcements tonight, or will we see more of the things we already know? I’m sure we’ll get some more talk about No Man’s Sky now that it has been delayed, but hopefully no more stage demos. We’re good. We just want the game!

Some quick predictions: The indie showcase will see games like Manifold Garden and Pyre, two games I’ve been excited to see since they were announced. Devolver usually has a good presence so I wouldn’t be surprised to see Absolver make an appearance. Final Fantasy XV was already shown at Microsoft’s conference, but maybe we will get more information on that and the remake of Final Fantasy VII? I’m also banking on seeing something big like Shadow of Mordor 2, perhaps? It’s about time!

Follow the liveblog below and strap in for what will probably be a wild ride (all times are in PST):

7:16 PM – We’re wrapping up with a montage of what’s to come by the looks of things. This was definitely an exciting conference. And not too long! I am signing off now! Check out all our coverage on the site.

7:14 PM – Looks like good spread for flames, and the horde mentality makes for a lot of killing. Demo ends with a cliffhanger though.

7:11 PM – No surprise. There are zombies. And crazy people who want you dead, I suppose.

7:09 PM – Live demo of Days Gone. Let’s see what Bend has been up to.

7:07 PM – Insomniac Games is doing a Spider-man game. Perfect fit!

7:06 PM – The game is called Death Stranding. Mark Cerny is Technical Producer. No release date.

7:04 PM – Norman Reedus hugging a baby tied to him by an electrical umbilical cord. And he has black handprints showing up on him. He has a cross on his chest from stitches. The mocap is unreal.

7:03 PM – Yes, he has a new game and it has opened with a quote from William Blake.

7:02 PM – Hideo Kojima is on the stage now!

7:00 PM – Demo for the Lego game is available now for PS4.

6:58 PM – Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer time.

6:57 PM – Crash Bandicoot is coming back. He will first be appearing this october in Skylanders Imaginators.

6:56 PM – If you pre-purchase Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare it looks like you get Modern Warfare’s campaign 30 days early on PS4 only.

6:55 PM – Everything has blown up. And now it is revealed that it is Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. I’m guessing it is also all in VR. And a trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is now here too.

6:52 PM – Alright, this next game is a cross between dogfighting in space and lots of first-person shooting. Main character planted a grenade on an enemy and blew him up. So that’s neat! And now the entire bridge is being destroyed. This is a hell of a long demo.

6:47 PM – Okay, weird dubstep in this Final Fantasy XV trailer. And there is a Final Fantasy XV Vr Experience too. Lots of gun shooting by the looks of it. You will play as Prompto.

6:45 PM – Uhhh…Batman game being shown. It’s called Batman Arkham VR. Looks like Rocksteady is doing it and it will be coming out in October 2016, exclusively on PlayStation VR.

6:44 PM – Farpoint was the first game shown, and now it looks like they are showing Star Wars: Battlefront – X-Wing VR Mission. Looks sick.

6:43 PM – Looks like it’s time to see some VR games.

6:41 PM – PlayStation VR will be available October 13, 2016. Over 50 Games available at launch.

6:40 PM – Resident Evil VII will work completely with PlayStation VR. That is exciting! And should sell some hardware.

6:39 – Resident Evil VII is a thing. And the demo is available tonight for PS+ members. January 24, 2017 the game comes out.

6:37 PM – This has horror game vibe all over it. It’s a new game with creepy manicans. And a rundown house. And you wake up in a similar way as PT. I’m curious.

6:35 PM – Prepare to have several different outcomes, making everyone’s own experience unique. We’ll see how it all ties into the larger narrative. Still no release date though for Detroit: Become Human.

6:33 PM – Yep, this is a Quantic Dream game. And basically just exploring more of the ideas from the first reveal.

6:32 PM – Now time for Beyond Human, a game that I completely forgot about.

6:29 PM – I mean, this looks fantastic. Seeing a lot of weapons and traps.

6:24 PM – Horizon: Zero Dawn is being shown. Lots of running. Lots and lots of running.

6:23 PM – Last Guardian comes out October 25, 2016.

6:20 PM – New game time. Hanging man. Getting Last of Us meets Sons of Anarchy vibes. It’s called Days Gone. This is what Sony Bend has been up to.

6:16 PM – “A New Beginning” – Oh man, Dragons!

6:12 PM – Kratos: The Last Witch Hunter. Combat still has beauty and scale. Also, looks like the game is just called God of War.

6:07 PM – And now after the nice serenade, we get a trailer for God of War 4! Except, uhhh…Kratos is still here? Okay, guess we’re just gonna keep using him.

6:01 PM – I guess it’s time for an orchestra!

5:36 PM – I am here and so are you! And we are 25 minutes out from Sony’s conference! Stay tuned here for updates once the show begins.
