E3 2017: Skyrim on Switch Detailed, Link Costume with amiibo and Motion Controls Confirmed

Bethesda revealed more details about the Switch version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, including amiibo and motion controls support during their their E3 press conference.

Coming this Fall, this version of Skyrim will have motion controls for combat and lockpicking, and amiibo support, which works with compatible amiibo from The Legend of Zelda 30th Anniversary, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Super Smash Bros series, with loot unlocked. The only costume unlockable confirmed so far is Link’s Master Sword and Champion’s Tunic.

This Switch port will also have all of the available DLC from earlier: Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn. Not too many details have been given about the motion controls with the Joy-cons. Bethesda in their press release said, “Use all-new motion controls for combat and lockpicking – battle with melee weapons, aim your bow and arrow, and more.”

When the original Skyrim released in 2011, it won over 200 Game of the Year awards and it has now sold over 30 million copies worldwide (via Glixel).

Bethesda also announced a paid mod service called the Creation Club. It allows for official add-ons on PC and consoles, and for experienced modders to work with the development teams of their games. This has not been confirmed for the Switch version, but if you are a modder or an artist, you can make a Creator application, so you can pitch your ideas.
