It seems like Electronic Arts and Valve are going into a deal of a lifetime. Both companies have announced a partnership to bring Electronic Arts games and the EA Access games subscription service to Steam. in fact, the first Electronic Arts-published game coming to Steam as part of the partnership is none other than Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order on November 15. Are you excited? Because the game is now available for pre-order.
“This is the start of an exciting partnership with Valve that will see us innovating for PC players around the world,” Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson said in a press release. “Through our subscription, great games and more, we’re excited to bring players in the Steam and Origin communities together with access to the best games, whenever and wherever they want to play.”
Gabe Newell from Valve added, “This is a good day for gamers. We’re excited to partner with EA to not only bring their great games and subscription service to Steam but also to open up our communities to each other in an unprecedented way that will benefit players and developers around the world.”
It seems like Valve is finally starting to hit back against the Epic Games Store. Although, the confidence isn’t really that inspiring considering the company that Valve is partnering with. However, I’m pretty sure some people are excited to play games like Battlefield through their Steam accounts.
However, this can also spell some trouble for the Origin game launcher. If you think about it, the platform could become obsolete when games become readily available on the Steam Store. However, It really depends on how long the transition will take between platforms.
