Temperatures are climbing and school is almost out for the Summer, that can only mean one thing on the sports calendar. It’s time to reveal this year’s installment of Madden football.
Yesterday, EA released their E3 trailer for Madden 15 as well as what star will be the on the cover come August. If you tuned into Sports Center on ESPN last night, you now know this year’s cover athlete is the Super Bowl MVP and the most outspoken shut-down corner in the NFL, Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks.
EA issued a press release emphasizing their commitment to improve the games overall defense performance. “The video, featuring Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly, underscores the key focus in this year’s game, a commitment to improved defense.”
While the trailer shows very little gameplay, EA’s website does reiterate their intentions to “Deliver on Defense”. The game will feature brand new pass rush moves as well as new open-field tackling mechanics. A game with Richard Sherman on the cover has to put an emphasis on stopping the opposing team in pass coverage. EA is delivering by offering up “redesigned zone and man coverage logic.”
Sunday is football day and fans tune in to watch their team but also the pre and post game shows. EA looks to improve in those areas as they’ll be offering an NFL Films inspired presentation. Also, they’re implementing six new pre-snap camera angles for players who want to adjust their plays or coverage based upon what they’re opponent is doing.
Madden 15 will be released on August 26 in the U.S. and August 29 in Europe on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.
