Over the past couple of days the creative director of NetherRealm Studios, Ed Boon, has been publshing a cryptic countdown via his twitter account. On May 4 he tweeted ‘Square root of 841’ which equals 29. On May 5 he tweeted ‘How many days in (non leap year) February’ which is 28. The countdown points to something happening on June 2 but as of yet we don’t know what that is.
Founded in 2010, NetherRealm is the studio in charge of the Mortal Kombat franchise, although they also developed Injustice: Gods Among Us which released last year. Both Mortal Kombat 10 and Injustice 2 have been heavily rumoured over the past few months, so it could very well be that this is a countdown to the announcement of one of those games. We’ll keep you updated as more rumours emerge.
