People Can Fly, developer of Bulletstorm, is now property of Epic Games.
The move is indeed linked to three key members of PCF leaving the company, those being Andrzej Poznanski, Adrian Chmielarz and Michal Kosieradzki. It’s being said though, that their decision to part ways was done on friendly terms.
Mark Rein of Epic stated that their departure would not impact games currently in development. “We doubled down on People Can Fly,” he stated. “It was something we always hoped to do.”
He continued, “We will be helping (Chmielarz) with some future announcements. Our paths will be crossing again.”
Epic Games and People Can Fly first became acquainted when Chmielarz spoke to Epic Games regarding licensing related to the Unreal Engine. Epic were ultimately impressed with PCF, providing money to the company who were a tad strapped for cash at the time. Stating of the move, Rein remarked, “We hooked them up right away. They did a really cool prototype, awesome art and design.”
PCF were then called in to handle Gears of War for the PC and after working on other GoW titles, were asked to helm Gears of War: Judgment.
Despite key members of the PCF team leaving, Rein reiterated that Judgment and other titles will be just fine.
