Yesterday, Sean Smith died in Benghazi Libya, the BBC say it’s believed the consulate was stormed in retaliation to a US-produced film considered insulting to the Prophet Muhammad.

Sean Smith, or Vile Rat his EVE nickname (Avatar above), had been playing EVE Online since the start and had become a senior member of Something Awful’s Goonfleet and an off and on member of the player elected council. An old friend of Sean and fellow veteran The Mattini wrote a moving post on his site, explaining his relation with Sean a bit and his importance to the EVE community. Sean had a hand in almost all major events that happened in EVE in some respect. The entire EVE community now mourns his death, including the developers. Rest In Peace Sean Smith.
