Far Cry 5 Gets the Mondo Treatment with a Mondo Edition

Mondo is a team that’s been releasing very high quality posters (of which I am proud to say I own two), vinyl, and one of their more recent forays as of a few years ago, was steelbooks. Now, while Mondo doesn’t really do any steelbooks outside of film and television, it seems Ubisoft has locked down a special Mondo edition of their upcoming shooter, Far Cry 5. You can check out more details about the Far Cry 5 x Mondo Edition below.

The artwork for the Mondo edition of Far Cry 5 is done by Jay Shaw, Creative Director at Mondo (who you can also see talk about his process working on the artwork in the trailer above). This is the first steelbook that they have done for gaming, and hopefully will not be the last. Collectors should take note that it even includes a numbered spine indicating that they probably will release more Mondo steelbooks. Hopefully this will be less pre-order incentive in the future and more about celebrating good games, just as they do with film.

However, the artwork is not all that the Mondo edition includes:

The price for the package is set at $99.99 USD, but speaking from experience with Mondo products, they tend to retail for more than they cost. Plus, you’re getting a $60 game and the soundtrack on vinyl, which would likely run you up to almost $100 alone. I’m a big proponent for Mondo getting into the gaming industry, but I’m hoping their relationship with games isn’t purely about hyping up games for pre-order sales. I’m gonna let it work on me for now, but hopefully that isn’t the path they continue down in the future.

You can pre-order Far Cry 5 x Mondo Edition exclusively at the Ubisoft store. It will be limited to 4,000 copies so don’t hesitate too much.
