Far Cry Primal Overview Trailer – “How Far Cry Does The Stone Age”

Far Cry Primal

“Brutal weapons” and “warring tribes” are just the beginning of what’s in store for players in Far Cry Primal. Ubisoft has released a new trailer that details the story and what to expect from the new game in the popular franchise, which hits store shelves on February 23rd, 2016.

A good chunk of the trailer above details the weapons of destruction available to Takkar, Far Cry Primal‘s protagonist. The bow and arrow seems like the major weapon that the game will focus on with multiple variations of it available to players. A highlighted moment from the trailer is lighting the arrow on fire and then shooting it at a cave bear can make it irate and extra harmful to enemies as it attacks them while covered in flames. Also mentioned in the trailer are clubs, spears, slings, traps, and other weapons including bee bombs that are used for distractions and berserker bombs that act as a way of making enemies fight one another.

One of Far Cry Primal‘s biggest features looks to be Takkar’s unique ability to tame and command wild animals. This will allows players an extra layer of creativity in their savagery. An owl companion also helps to scout nearby areas, detailing enemy locations, as well as helping to take out enemies. And yes, it looks like some animals will have the ability to be used as transportation across the land of Oros. Badgers are making a return and look to be just as brutal as they were in Far Cry 4.  Taking a cue from Dying Light, it looks like nightfall will provide a different landscape of enemies and a whole new set of problems to worry about.

A lot of the story detailed in the trailer is a repeat of the previous story trailer released by Ubisoft, though this one goes a little more in-depth with how the warring tribes relate to one another and why players should fear them. It appears that settlements and harvesting resources seem to be a larger component of Far Cry Primal. The game will also feature specialist characters that will expand the features available to players.

Far Cry Primal will be released on February 23, 2016 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
