EA has confirmed that the next instalment in the immensely popular FIFA series will not be making its way to Nintendo’s next generation console after it announced last week that it had no games in development for the system.

This means that although, it is thought, the Xbox 360, PS3, Next-Box and PS4 will be getting the game, Nintendo gamers will have to make do without their fix of football on their console.

Speaking to Eurogamer, the company had this to say:
“Six months ago FIFA 13 was a launch title on Wii U. Although the game featured FIFA’s award-winning HD gameplay and innovative new ways to play, the commercial results were disappointing. We have decided not to develop FIFA 14 on Wii U.”

Is this yet another nail hammered into to the Wii U’s early coffin?
