Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan have returned again to talk about the ills of capitalism. Jodie Foster’s new film Money Monster puts George Clooney in a hostage situation alongside his producer, played by Julia Roberts. We discuss the film’s thriller qualities and why its inability to be believable might not actually be a bad thing.
Before that, we talk about some new Blu-ray releases, including Deadpool (which we did a podcast on and Dylan reviewed), as well as this week’s Criterion title. There is also some Cannes discussion as we think about what films we are most excited to see when they’re released stateside. A lot of news is covered at the beginning (including the new Assassin’s Creed trailer, hence the opening music) but eventually we do talk about two other movies we saw this week. Dylan revisited John Carpenter’s They Live and Chris finally saw Blade Runner in the form of Blade Runner: The Final Cut.
Next week we will be reviewing Shane Black’s new film, The Nice Guys, starring Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. Give the podcast below a listen and let us know what you think in the comments below.
