Welcome back! On this week’s episode of Film Fallout, Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan discuss the newest remake of a remake: The Magnificent Seven. Directed by Antoine Fuqua, we talk about the casting choices, missed opportunities to explore deeper themes, and why Vincent D’Onofrio is a god among men. Listen to find out whether this was a film worth remaking again.
On top of that though, Dylan went and saw both The Age of Shadows from Kim Jee-woon, and Storks from Nicholas Stoller. Meanwhile, Chris ventured through the Fall TV season to find some pilots to discuss of new shows. He talks about The Good Place starring Kristen Bell and Ted Danson from Michael Schurr, MacGyver‘s first episode which was directed by horror veteran James Wan, Kevin Can Wait which is Kevin James’s return to TV sitcoms, and Son of Zorn, the newest TV show from Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
We also have a bunch of blu-rays to talk about and plenty of news, as always. Next week, we’re skipping the theater and getting in the halloween spirit by watching 31, the new film from Rob Zombie. It’s already available so feel free to watch it as well and tune in next Wednesday when we discuss it.
