Film Fallout Podcast #39 – Fantastic Beasts at The Edge of Seventeen

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Greetings no-maj’s, and welcome to a podcast that talks about a lot of stuff your world simply won’t be able to comprehend. Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan recount the adventures of Newt Scamander in the new film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Directed by David Yates, written by JK Rowling and starring Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller, Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrell, and Dan Fogler, this is a prequel to the events of the Harry Potter films. We talk all about our distaste for David Yates, whether the film is fun or just too dark, and Chris shares his theory for how this will tie in more directly with the Harry Potter films.

We also have plenty of blu-ray releases including Kubo and the Two Strings (which we reviewed), and Dylan has a bevy of news, as always. But more importantly, Dylan watched a bunch more movies. He saw The Edge of Seventeen, which many have compared to a John Hughes film, as well as The Love Witch and Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk (in 120 frames per second too). It must be awards season!

Next week, we will be back with even more films to discuss like Manchester by the SeaNocturnal AnimalsLoving, and probably Moana.
