Film Fallout Podcast #49 – The Split Between Us

Split

Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan ponder the many personalities of James McAvoy in M. Night Shyamalan’s latest film, Split. We discuss the way in which a movie like this should be talked about, why Shyamalan is a reliable director, and how important it is to treat viewers with a little bit of intelligence. Does Split continue the Shyamalan comeback? Give a listen to the podcast below to find out.

Dylan also saw the new Matthe McConaughey film, Gold, which tries to be like The Wolf of Wall Street. He also checked out Tampopo which will be released on Criterion soon. Meanwhile, Chris took time out of his life to sit through The Space Between Us which opens this Friday. On top of that, he talks about Kim Jee-woon’s A Bittersweet Life. There’s also political film news because its just impossible to avoid it this week.

Now for those who want to win a digital copy of The Handmaiden and are Canadian (sorry, blame the digital copy), I’m gonna need you to pay close attention. Send me an email to christopher.cross@bagogames.com with the answer to this question: Who is the director of The Handmaiden? This is so easy. Just do it before February 4th, 2017 and you’ll be entered to win the movie.

Next week is our 50th episode, so Chris and Dylan have decided to watch a few movies they’ve wanted to see that are probably really bad, but hopefully really bad they’re good (and one movie Dylan knows the quality of already). If you would like to give them a watch before the episode to prepare for some likely humorous discussions, we’ll be watching the following:

Gymkata
Turn it Up
Sleepaway Camp
R.O.T.O.R.
