We’re not sure whose side we’re on but we definitely know there is shooting involved. Welcome to the 60th episode of Film Fallout, where Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan take aim at Free Fire this week. Ben Wheatley is one of our favorite directors, and we take a look at where this stacks in his filmography in terms of comedy and mainstream viability. We also have a nice gentle discussion about High-Rise – his previous film, and one that we both never loved as much we wanted.
Before that we discuss James Gray’s The Lost City of Z, Nacho Vigalondo’s Colossal, and Sophia Takal’s Always Shine. Plenty of movies to see in theater, but we also have our Blu-ray releases of the week, including our (obvious) pick for the one to pick up: La La Land. You can listen to our podcast on the popular film. There’s also tons of superhero news, because of course there is, and apparently a lot of people do watch Adam Sandler movies.
Next week, we’ll be back with a review of The Circle starring Emma Watson and Tom Hanks, and directed by James Ponsoldt. For now, give a listen to the podcast below:
Film Fallout is a weekly podcast about film and television. Every week, Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan discuss news happening in the industry, blu-ray releases coming out this week, what they’ve been watching, and then a review of one movie. You can listen to it on SoundCloud, iTunes, or on BagoGames. Also follow us on Instagram for some behind-the-scenes magic. We are both on Twitter, if you’d like to follow us there. Chris is @HammerkopCross, Dylan is @DreaminDylanS, and you can follow the podcast @Filmfalloutcast. And finally, there is a Facebook page for the podcast if you’d like to ‘like’ us on that.
