Film Fallout Podcast #86 – The Untamed Thor and Lady Bird are Creeps

Thor: Ragnarok

Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan have returned from an odyssey to find that Asgard is under attack. That’s right, this week we’re reviewing Thor: Ragnarok, the seventeenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, this one’s directed by one of our favorite directors: Taika Waititi. With new cast additions like Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum and Cate Blanchett, we have plenty of things to talk about. How did Taika manage to make a Marvel film without losing his filmmaking identity? How underappreciated is Karl Urban? Why are Goldblum and Thompson so enjoyable in this? All these questions and more are fielded in this week’s podcast.

Other than that, we both talk about Lady Bird, the directorial debut of Greta Gerwig. Dylan saw Novitiate where Chris quizzes him on how Melissa Leo, Melissa Leo is, and he talks about tentacle sex in The Untamed. And Chris saw Creep 2, in which Mark Duplass has a ponytail and is creepy.

There’s also Blu-ray releases including this week’s Criterion which is also our pick of the week. And we of course discuss the latest round of sexual harassment allegations and Disney doing some shady stuff. Next week, we refuse to see Murder on the Orient Express. So instead, we’re going to review 24 Hours to Live starring Ethan Hawke.

Film Fallout is a weekly podcast about film and television, hosted on BagoGames.com. Every week, Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan discuss news happening in the industry, blu-ray releases coming out this week, what they’ve been watching, and then a review of one movie. You can listen to it on SoundCloudiTunes, or on BagoGames. Also follow us on Instagram for some behind-the-scenes magic. We are both on Twitter, if you’d like to follow us there. Chris is @HammerkopCross, Dylan is @DreaminDylanS, and you can follow the podcast @Filmfalloutcast. And finally, there is a Facebook page for the podcast if you’d like to ‘like’ us on that.
