Film Fallout Podcast #89 – The Godless Villainess outside Ebbing, Missouri

Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan take a trip to the fictional Ebbing, Missouri this episode to debate one of the movies that will definitely be in awards conversations this year. Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri is written and directed by Martin McDonagh and stars Frances McDormand, Woody Harrelson, and Sam Rockwell, among other noteworthy character actors. How does this dark comedy fare against McDonagh’s previous work? Does he cross a line in his gleeful violence? We have a lively conversation about the film after what is already a very lively episode.

For one, Chris and Dylan both saw The Villainess which has us wondering why people like it so much. Meanwhile, Dylan saw two Netflix offerings: Godless and Mudbound. One is misleading in its marketing and the other is still being mentioned in awards conversations. Plus, we’ve always got news including the Gotham Award winners and somebody with a heavy vendetta against Armie Hammer, then there’s the slew of Blu-rays out this week.

Next week, we return with a discussion of The Disaster Artist.
