It’s time to dismantle a science fiction film with Midnight Special! Jeff Nichols has returned to his distinctly southern filmmaking to provide a film that Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan can’t completely agree on. Starring Michael Shannon, Joel Edgerton, Kirsten Dunst, Adam Driver, Sam Shepard, and introducing Jaeden Lieberher, Midnight Special offers a unique look at the Spielbergian notion of science fiction. This week, Chris also saw Everybody Wants Some!! the new Richard Linklater film, and Dylan saw Dangerous Men, the latest Drafthouse Films release.
There was a bit of news regarding some Netflix movies and Joel McHale possibly playing Chevy Chase in a movie about National Lampoon. But most importantly is the blu-ray releases where Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens was released. A movie we both enjoyed and makes us hopeful for the future of the Star Wars universe.
Dylan reviewed Midnight Special already, which can be found here.
You can listen to the podcast below, and remember that next week we will be reviewing the first-person action film, Hardcore Henry.
