Final Fantasy XIV’s ‘Heavensward’ Expansion Gets A Date

Heavensward will be the first expansion pack to make Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn soar. Literally. The MMORPG’s latest expansion pack will see players flying for the first time in the game and will allegedly span millennia, but time will tell if takes that long for gamers to beat.

Announced last year and originally slated for a spring release, the expansion’s due this June 23rd on Playstation 3 and 4 and will take place in a very Lord of the Rings-sounding Ishgard. Players will also travel across expanded portions of Eorzea, the Coerthas Central Highlands, and over the Sea of Clouds along with a host of “beast tribe” populated areas.

All disciplines will further have a level-cap of 60 and you’ll get to play a variety of new jobs, including as the draconic Au Ra race to boot. Free Companies, or those in FF XIV‘s adventurer guild-system, will be boarding their own airships as well as they sail the skies.

Tell us: Are you still playing FF XIV, or are you picking it up for this expansion anytime soon?
