Call of Duty: WWII’s first map pack was released today on PS4. Titled The Resistance, this add-on brings three new multiplayer maps to the western front and one new War map. It also features The Darkest Shore, a new Zombies map.
Just a week ahead of The Resistance’s launch, a new event also titled The Resistance began for everyone who owns the Call of Duty: WWII. In this free five-week event, players can obtain new gear, play new game modes such as Prop Hunt, a game mode that literally has you hiding as an object on the map–it’s way more fun than it sounds–and a new Division to fight under. This division, also called (you guessed it) The Resistance, focuses heavily on close-quarters combat and features a new tactical knife skill and a perk that allows you to scramble enemy radars and more. For the duration of the event, players can earn Resistance supply drops featuring exclusive event gear and if players access headquarters at least once a week, they’ll receive a free Resistance supply drop.
The new multiplayer maps are focused on locations centered around historic uprisings and will take players to Prussia, Prague, Paris and St. Lo.. Valkyrie is a medium-sized map that with mounted machine guns and plenty of overwatch tower locations throughout the Masurian Woods of East Prussia. In Anthropoid, soldiers will be forced to stay back and snipe across long flanking paths or cross the river that divides the map to reach the enemy side in this Prague-based fight. For those who remember the map Resistance from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, you’ll especially enjoy the new Occupation map, as it’s a remake of Resistance featuring the storefronts and homes of German-occupied Paris. For those who prefer WWII’s War mode, Operation Intercept is for you and it will have you on an urban rescue mission to save Resistance fighters being transported by train outside of St. Lo, France.
The new zombie map, The Darkest Shore, will have you chasing after Doktor Straub on an island north of Germany. On this island, you’ll fight not only the elements of the island but also the undead covering the landscape.
As part of Sony’s exclusivity deal with Activision, this new map pack is only available on PS4 currently but if this deal is like those of the past, Xbox and PC players can expect it in a month. If you own the season pass, which can be purchased for $49.99, you can expect The Resistance to be available for download now. If you don’t own the season pass, you can purchase this DLC for $14.99.
