FUNimation Buys US Rights To “The Boy and the Beast”

FUNimation Entertainment announced the purchase of US rights to distribute the anime film The Boy and the Beast. From the directer, Mamoru Hosoda comes the story of two worlds that must never intertwine: the human world and the bakemono world. (Bakemono are a subclass of yokai in Japanese lore, their name means a thing that changes). But a lonely boy becomes lost in the world of the bakemono and becomes a disciple of the lonely Kumatetsu.

FUNimation plans on releasing The Boy and the Beast in select theaters in late 2015 and hopes to release it nationwide in 2016.
