[UPDATE] FUNimation & Crunchyroll to Simulcast New Fairy Tail Anime

Fairy Tail/ FUNimation

Update: Crunchyroll has announced they will also simulcast brand new Fairy Tail episodes after all, meaning the anime will be available through both services. It looks like FUNimation get the episodes first (if you’re a subscriber, you can watch the new episode now!) and Crunchyroll will be behind them by just 30 minutes.

Original Post: It was only a matter of time before we found out who would be streaming the Fairy Tail anime continuation to viewers outside of Japan, and unsurprisingly it’s FUNimation. Fans have been anxious to find out if the new episodes would fall into the hands of Crunchyroll; who ran the simulcast of the original series, or FUNimation; who owns the US home distribution rights and produces the English dub. While it’s possible Crunchyroll could also obtain streaming rights for series, it’s likely FUNimation is keeping Fairy Tail to themselves this time around.

The schedule for the simulcast has not yet been announced. The new series begins in Japan on April 5th.

FUNimation also posted the preview video released last month, this time with English subtitles. Check it out here.
