Science SARU announced that it is producing a new TV anime based on Hideo Furukawa’s novel The Heike Story (Heike Monogatari). Funimation also announced that it will stream the anime on September 15 ahead of its Japanese premiere in January 2022.
The Heike Story Anime Details
The anime’s staff includes veteran director Naoko Yamada as director, Reiko Yoshida as scriptwriter, and Kensuke Ushio as music composer. Other staff members include Fumiko Takano as original character designer, Takashi Kojima (Flip Flappers, Ride Your Wave) as character designers, Tomotaka Kubo (Deho Gallery) as art director, Ken Hashimoto as color key artist, Shotaro Imai as an animation director, Kazuto Izumita as compositing director of photography, while Kiyoshi Hirose as editor. Eriko Kimura is the audio director with Hiromune Kurahashi (Otonarium) in charge of sound effects.
The anime’s cast includes Aoi Yūki plays as protagonist, Takahiro Sakurai as Taira no Shigemori, Saori Hayami as empress consort Taira no Tokuko, Tesshō Genda as Taira patriarch Taira no Kiyomori. Other cast members include Kikuko Inoue, Miyu Irino, Yumiko Kobayashi, Nobuhiko Okamoto, Natsuki Hanae, Ayumu Murase, Kōtarō Nishiyama, Nobuyuki Hiyama, Subaru Kimura, Yū Miyazaki, Inori Minase, Tomokazu Sugita, and Yuuki Kaji.
