Jesse Schell has found out some really interesting information regarding developers allowing you to sample that little bit of a game before its release… bad news is that if these statistics are to go by you won’t have that many to play in the future.
Jesse Schell is the CEO and analyst of Puzzle Clubhouse who spoke recently at a DICE keynote noted some interesting facts regarding distributing demos and trailers to consumers.
So what did Jesse Schell say;
- Games without a demo and without a trailer sold less than 100,000 units on average
- Games with a demo sold 200,000 units on average
- Games with a demo and a trailer sold 250,000 units on average
- Games with a trailer sold 500,000 units on average
It’s interesting to note that games with only a trailer sell almost double than a game which has trailers and demos. The question we would like to ask of you though is do you really care? When was the last time you viewed a trailer of a game and downloaded the demo? Have you ever been put off by a trailer or demo? Let us know in the comments below!
