Over the course of the last couple E3s and Gamescoms, Sony has taken some shots at Microsoft. Some well deserved and others were less swipes but more boasting about the superiority of the PS4 and PlayStation Network.

However, today was a proud moment for Sony as they confidently announced they’ve sold over 10 million PS4 units worldwide since launch. Somewhat of a slight dig at Microsoft, Sony’s SCEE President and CEO Jim Ryan did clarify by saying “10 million PS4s sold through to consumers.” Suggesting of course that Microsoft has listed their numbers as what has shipped to retail stores, not consumers.

Other milestones Sony has achieved with the PS4 in less than a years time are: one million sales on release day and seven million sales worldwide by April. Clearly, Sony’s PS4 is outselling the Xbox One but both systems are flourishing by putting the focus back on games and less on gimmicks.
