<p><a class="zem_slink" title="Sir Patrick Moore" href="http://www.last.fm/music/Sir%2BPatrick%2BMoore" target="_blank" rel="lastfm">Sir Patrick Moore</a>, famed astronomer and the face of <a class="zem_slink" title="United Kingdom" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=51.5,-0.116666666667&;spn=10.0,10.0&;q=51.5,-0.116666666667 (United%20Kingdom)&;t=h" target="_blank" rel="geolocation">UK</a> TV show <em><a class="zem_slink" title="GamesMaster" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GamesMaster" target="_blank" rel="wikipedia">GamesMaster</a></em>, has died. Moore, who was 89, is said to have died peacefully at his <a class="zem_slink" title="West Sussex" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=51.0584,-0.69006&;spn=1.0,1.0&;q=51.0584,-0.69006 (West%20Sussex)&;t=h" target="_blank" rel="geolocation">West Sussex</a> home on Sunday.</p>
<p>The author of over seventy books on astronomy, Moore was also the host of <a class="zem_slink" title="BBC Television" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_Television" target="_blank" rel="wikipedia">BBC television</a> programme <em><a class="zem_slink" title="The Sky at Night" href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006mk7h/" target="_blank" rel="homepage">The Sky At Night</a></em>, which holds the title of being the world&#8217;s longest-running <a class="zem_slink" title="Television program" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television_program" target="_blank" rel="wikipedia">TV series</a> with the same original presenter.</p>
<p>Many gamers will remember Moore as the face of <em>GamesMaster</em>, the video game-focused show which ran on <a class="zem_slink" title="Television in the United Kingdom" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=0.0,28.2&;spn=1.0,1.0&;q=0.0,28.2 (Television%20in%20the%20United%20Kingdom)&;t=h" target="_blank" rel="geolocation">British television</a> from 1992 to 1998 and which spawned the magazine of the same name, which is still being published today. Upon hearing of Moore&#8217;s death, the publication announced, &#8220;Terribly sad news today as Sir Patrick Moore &#8211; aka the GamesMaster &#8211; has passed away. A true legend and one we&#8217;ll greatly miss.&#8221;</p>
<p><a class="zem_slink" title="Dominik Diamond" href="http://www.dominikdiamond.com" target="_blank" rel="homepage">Dominik Diamond</a>, who presented six of the seven series of <em>GamesMaster</em>, wrote on <a class="zem_slink" title="Twitter" href="http://twitter.com" target="_blank" rel="homepage">Twitter</a>: &#8220;What? He also did a show about planets? I just did the puerile gags. But he WAS the Gamesmaster. RIP Sir Patrick Moore, a true original.&#8221;</p>
