GameStop Claim Worldwide PS4 Launch Will Be This Year

PS4

For those of you who weren’t traumatized by the news that the PS3 would not release world wide at the same time today brings happy news if GameStop can be believed.

During GameStop’s latest earnings call, Mike Hogan (Executive vice president of the company) has been reported as saying that the PlayStation 4 will not only launch in Japan or America but will launch worldwide this holiday season.

Seeking Alpha translated the exact quote as to Mike Hogan saying:
“We know that Sony will introduce the PlayStation 4 globally in 2013, but we are still waiting to see what Microsoft’s final plans are. We have scenarios with one console introduction, as well as with two.”

If this quotation is to be believed then it can be understood that Sony is trying to keep its cards close to its chest whilst Microsoft still decides if it is even going to reveal a new console, let a lone announce a release date.

For reference-sake, the PlayStation 3 was released on November 11th 2006 in Japan, November 17th in North America and March 23rd 2007 in Europe and other countries such as Australia, Africa and New Zealand.

Hopefully the PlayStation 4 release won’t have so many time gaps if this story is to be believed!
