GameStop Delays PowerPass Rental Program

<p>Gamestop has put a &&num;8220&semi;temporary pause&&num;8221&semi; on their <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;bagogames&period;com&sol;gamestop-unveils-play-pass-new-game-rental-program&sol;" target&equals;"&lowbar;blank" rel&equals;"noopener">PowerPass rental program<&sol;a>&period; The program has been delayed due to unknown issues&period; Although it had a soft launch this week&comma; Kotaku speculates the delay has to do with the computer system&period; Employees told Kotaku the company&&num;8217&semi;s antiquated computers weren&&num;8217&semi;t equipped to handle the new program&period; A GameStop spokesperson said&colon;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<blockquote><p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;<em>We have elected to temporarily pause the roll out of the new PowerPass subscription service&comma; based on a few program limitations we have identified&period; We feel this is the right thing to do for now to ensure we are able to provide our guests an exceptional service&comma;<&sol;em>”<&sol;p><&sol;blockquote>&NewLine;<p>The PowerPass program allowed people to pay &dollar;60 to rent a pre-owned game for as long as they like for six months&period; During that six months&comma; they can return it and exchange it for another pre-owned game&period; At the end of the six months&comma; players keep the last game they rented out&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>For those that did pay for the PowerPass program&comma; a full refund will be issued as well as a free pre-owned game to make up for it&period; GameStop has not said when the program would be reinstated&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>It is a nice gesture to see GameStop making it up to the customers&period; A full refund and a game on top of it is a nice deal to make up for the delay&period; Whatever the issue is&comma; hopefully it does get resolved soon&period; If it is a computer issues&comma; it&&num;8217&semi;s odd they didn&&num;8217&semi;t test it before the rollout&period; Although&comma; I imagine it shouldn&&num;8217&semi;t be that big of an issue if it&&num;8217&semi;s a delay&period; Had it been canceled&comma; then the company may have really been in trouble&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Are you bummed about the delay and are you excited about the PowerPass program&quest; Let us know what you think in the comment section below&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Source&colon; <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;kotaku&period;com&sol;gamestop-temporarily-pauses-unlimited-used-games-progra-1820429511" target&equals;"&lowbar;blank" rel&equals;"noopener">Kotaku<&sol;a><&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;
