Gearbox Reveals Mechromancer Class for Borderlands 2 – Aimed at Casual Players

The fifth character class for Borderlands 2 has been revealed. The Mechromancer class was announced as a DLC for the game, as the final draft of the character will not be ready in time for the game’s release.

Concept art of the character reveals a steam-punk style, combined with high-tech robotic limbs, and capabilities. The character herself seems a little more cutesy than the rest of the characters slated to be within the game.

The character will come with a unique skill set which has been called the “Best Friends Forever” skill tree. This skill tree has been designed to help players who are not accustomed to first person shooter’s, or possibly even video games in general. Skills such as “Close Enough” will help new players by giving their missed shots a higher chance of deflecting off an object, and hitting the enemy.

The character will also have a robot companion at it’s disposal. The robot is designed to be a tank character used to soak up damage for the player, as well as be upgraded to deal with enemies in a timely, brutal manner. Upgrades for the robot include an Explosive Clap ability, which will have the robot grab two enemies then smash them together to create damage, as well as a knock back effect.

Borderlands 2 is set to release on September 18 in the U.S, and September 21 in the U.K. The game will be available on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.
