Gears of War: Ultimate Edition has shown up on the Microsoft Store, which is sure to please many fans who have been waiting patiently for the release to come. The PC version was first shown off at last years E3, but has since been seen only sporadically, with many wondering when it would come out. The game was released this morning via the Microsoft Store alongside some surprise announcements from developers The Coalition.

The PC release is now lined up closer to the official 10 year anniversary celebration of the game, and there are some standout features included that are reason to celebrate. Firstly, the game is playable in 4k resolution with an unlocked refresh rate, as well as unlocked frame rates for campaign and multiplayer. There are also 5 missions that are included that were not in the original Xbox 360 release. Multiplayer features 19 maps including 3 from the original PC release, and all while running on dedicated servers. Additionally, for those that prefer it, there is the option for keyboard and mouse if a gamepad isn’t your style.

When Gears of War: Ultimate Edition was released last year it definitely raised the bar in terms of how HD remasters should be handled. Nearly everything in the game was rebuilt from the ground up, and the maps, characters, and game in general looked brilliant on Xbox One. Now that we can see more of the game in 4k, it is sure to raise the bar that much higher.
