After the recent departure of former director of product development Tim Gerritsen, Irrational Games have brought on a new face from another acclaimed franchise to finish work on Bioshock: Infinate.

According to Kotaku, Irrational Games has brought on Rod Fergusson, producer of the Gears of War series. The website reports that Fergusson is now taking the role of making sure Bioshock: Infinate is ready for it’s February, 2013 launch date. Fergusson has had instrumental roles in the production of the Gears of War series, as well as other Epic titles.

Whilst speaking to Kotaku, creative director for Irrational Games Ken Levine did not confirm Fergusson’s employment in the company. However, he was willing to speak of the departure of both Gerritsen, as well as Nate Wells, another long term staff member for Irrational.

“In a company of 200 people you’re going to have turnover,” says Levine. “We never like to see a guy like Nate leave because he’s been here for a long time but it’s been 13 years and I think sometime people want to spread their wings. I’m not going to stop people. We love Nate and I think we all remain friends. After 13 years he sort of finished his work on BioShock Infinite, as you will be able to tell when you see the game again … I think Nate’s moving on to something else.”

Rod Fergusson has now revealed on his personal Twitter account that he is indeed working with Irrational Games, thus leaving Epic Games.
