Gilray: Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD, ‘No Plans For Wii U’

It appears that the Wii U will again be passed up in this “Oddworld” of our’s and players won’t have anything to “munch” on while they sit with a Game Pad in their hands staring at an empty HD screen space.  Putting all corny and bad jokes aside, it appears that developer Just Add Water had no plans set in stone to release Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD on the Wii U platform.  The CEO of JAW, Stewart Gilray explained to one source that the game was developed on such “old technology” building it for the Wii U would be an uphill climb.

Gilray went on to say that developing it for the PS3 and the Vita was quite a chore to begin with and they didn’t want to see history repeat itself again.  In Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD, the player is put into the role of odd looking gabbit Munch who was part of science experiment and escaped with only the ability to jump and swim.  The goal is to rescue as many other test subjects as you can and as you go the once captive critters will help aid in your escape.  Munch later joins forces with another odd looking creature named Abe who is a Mudokon and together under the direction of a Yoda type essence known as the Great Raisin they complete certain tasks to accomplish their goals.  In the end Munch seeks freedom from extinction and Abe just wants to free his friends.  There are power ups aplenty and one of the weirdest objects to collect is a can that looks like a can of soda, but is actually a container full of gabbit eggs which can help replenish Munch’s people.

JAW is currently working on the newest Oddworld adventure called Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee New’N’Tasty for PC, PS3, Vita and the Xbox 360.  The development team is confirmed as a legit developer for the PS4 but nothing is known as to what they are working for on that system.
