Gimme, Gimme, Senpai! – August Japan Crate Review

Japan is known for their beautiful landscapes, unique cultures, and popular Anime shows. I have always been curious if their food is just as great; before, this is a question that I would have had to travel to Japan to answer. Luckily, for us Murican’s today (and UK folk, with the price of either $10 – $15 international shipping), you can now find out and enjoy the Japan Crate! Did you do jazz hands? Did you get excited? Well, you should have!

This small box definitely packs a major punch on your taste buds! For whatever you’re craving, I’m sure that Japan Crate can satisfy it on Japan Crate’s trip through the Japanese Marketplace. In the August Premium box, I received 13 items,  and it included such items as Cotton Candy Pop Rocks, Soy Sauce Pretz, the Chocoroom DIY kit, and more. The crate itself is easy and simple to open, much like Loot Crate; all you need to do is to tear the tape off and slowly open it from the sides to insure that nothing falls out.

This box is also very light weight and inside it was nothing like I was expecting it to be (in a good way). Inside, the first thing you will notice is the unique and cute design underneath the lid of the box. Shown above is the design and inside the box itself.  All of the items are very organized, and a very handy booklet is included on the top of the pile. The booklet includes some small facts about each item and translations to the Japanese words labeled on the outside of the crate. Also included in the booklet are directions on how to use the DIY kit that came as an extra with my crate along with some information about how they pick one random lucky subscriber each month to win a Sugoi Crate. The Sugoi Crate is a big box that has Japanese Candies, Gadgets, toys, and even gaming systems.

The smaller items are at the top, and as you continue to dig through this crate, you get to the bigger, bulkier items such as a bag of BBQ Chicken chips (crisps) or even possibly an action figure that can come in some of the crates. With this crate being the premium version, I found underneath everything, a Melon Cream Soda, which was absolutely delicious. It tasted like the best piece of Canelope you could ever imagine.

The August Premium Crate that I received also included some nostalgic child-hood faces that I immediately recognized as Pokemon and Mario Kart. They were both sticker gum, so it’s definitely a blast from the past. The gum flavor, however, didn’t last long.

When you do order this crate in the US, the shipping is free, and you also get free two-day priority shipping, but as I’ve mentioned earlier in the article, UK residents will have to pay a fee depending on the box. (Mini $12/month, Original $25/month, Premium $30/month.) Also, if you do get a multiple months plan, you will save anywhere from $3 – $30 and, you also may get a special gift with the twelve month payment plan.

If you are interested in trying out some new snacks or just generally wanting to broaden your snack horizon, I highly recommend this Crate. The shipping is fast, the items are amazing, and they are very easy to contact. My three-year old also gives it a ten out of ten! Check out the unboxing video below to get a look at all the goodies yourself.
