Earth just isn’t enough anymore for comic-book superheroes anymore. We need not shed too many a tear with how the final frontier is looking for them according to Marvel. After teasing us thrice with footage samples last week, Marvel Studios has now released its second Guardians of the Galaxy trailer in full following a live Q&A with the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy including Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, and Director James Gunn.
The first of the Marvel cinematic universe’s cosmic adventures, cocky adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a curious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful foe with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. Evading his relentless pursuers, Quill puts together his own motley crew of the alien kind—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora, and the revenge-fueled Drax the Destroyer. It’s when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos that he must rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
Directed and penned by James Gunn (Slither, Lollipop Chainsaw) with Nicole Perlman, the film stars Chris Pratt (The Lego Movie) as Peter Jason Quill (a.k.a Star Lord) with Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Bradley Cooper voicing Rocket, and Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot.
Guardians of the Galaxy is gunning for a August 1 U.S. release in 3D and IMAX.
