After a month at the box office, Guardians of the Galaxy has proved its staying power by returning to #1 once again. Despite being a lower return than last weekend, the $16,313,000 it scraped together was enough to come out on top. Naturally, other films weren’t so lucky. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles continues to nip at Guardian‘s tail with a $11,750,000 gross. In its second week, the drama If I Stay held the #3 spot with $9,260,000.

The two new films this weekend had it the worst. The paranormal horror As Above/So Below only made $8,342,000 while action thriller The November Man only brought in $7,660,000 (with an additional 2 million from its Wednesday opening). Also, I feel I should mention the 30th anniversary re-release of Ghostbusters which made about $1,650,000 from appearing in a little over 700 theaters. Read the top 10 weekend estimates below:

Guardians of the Galaxy: $16,313,000

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014): $11,750,000

If I Stay: $9,260,000

As Above/So Below: $8,342,000

Let’s Be Cops: $8,200,000

The November Man: $7,660,000

When the Game Stands Tall: $5,650,000

The Giver: $5,253,000

The Hundred-Foot Journey: $4,603,000

The Expendables 3: $3,500,000

You may be getting deja vu next week as there won’t be any competition at all. The Elvis Presley drama The Identical will be opening next weekend, but only in an abysmal 1,450 theaters. I’d like to say the one week re-release of Forrest Gump would make it in the top 10, but at 300 theaters it doesn’t have a chance. Unless the Turtles pick up more steam, next weekend’s box office will be pretty uneventful. And looking ahead at September, I wouldn’t expect Guardians of the Galaxy to take a big dip until at least The Maze Runner debuts on September 19th.
