It perhaps isn’t shocking at all that Guardians of the Galaxy has been officially announced as being the next project from Telltale Games. Revealed at The Game Awards last night, Marvel will be teaming up with Telltale to create a five-part episodic series centered around the popular characters. No word on a voice cast or exact release date besides 2017, but expect to hear more soon.
The reason it isn’t really that shocking of an announcement, is two-fold. First, it was recently rumored that Marvel would be teaming with Telltale for a Guardians of the Galaxy game. But secondly, and perhaps most obviously, is that the Guardians fit perfectly into a Telltale adventure – characters that make jokes on a regular basis, find themselves in over-the-top action scenes, and are anchored in a visually interesting world. Think Tales from the Borderlands but with Marvel characters.
As I mentioned, there is no mention of a voice cast yet, but I somehow doubt you’ll get the full cast if any. The only series that seemed to manage to gather actors from the pre-existing project to lend their voices was the Game of Thrones venture they did. Otherwise, its mostly just been notable voice actors.
Let us know in the comments below though if you’re excited for another Telltale game, especially one focused on Guardians of the Galaxy.
